I’m always looking for new quotes to letter because it’s my main method of practicing. I used to go for general quotes by topic, but now I’m enjoying discovering new artists and poets. e. e. cummings isn’t new but he just has absolutely beautiful quotes.   Here are three of my favorites. If you’re trying to develop your skills as an artist or even just starting out on your artistic journey, you can benefit from doodling. But what do we mean by doodling? Basically, we’re talking about unplanned drawing. We mean the artistic activity that lies somewhere between drawing in the margins of a notebook and creating a super fancy planned illustration. Wait, why do artists care about doodling? Just like Zen coloring or Zen-tangling, doodling is actually good for your creativity and your brain. Yes! When you allow yourself to just draw without any restraints, your brain goes into a freeform creative mode, which can improveRead More →

I secretly love nursery art. I don’t know why because I don’t really plan on having children, but I just love creating nursery art. I whipped up these guys just for fun. I love the colors that I used and I tried to keep them sort of gender neutral even though it says “he” and “she”. I just didn’t want to make them pink and blue, y’know! Am I a dork because I love this quote? I mean, all right, I’m probably a dork anyway, but I feel like it’s the cutest quote and everyone needs to remember to be themselves!   What I love about this quote is that it acknowledges that the world, so to speak, is already beautiful (because roses are beautiful), but that this one particular person– who ever that awesome woman is– stands out because she’s a wildflower. I don’t know, I’m lame.   Anyway! I have so many more free art posts, click the link before to go to the archives.   Check out MORE FreeRead More →

When I made these guys, I was so proud of them.  And I honestly STILL love them! I made these nearly a year go when I first started my iPad Pro lettering journey.  Heck, I’m still proud of them!   This was another week of looking through the archives to find old art that I’m ready to share with the world.   Do you want to learn hand lettering? More art from the archives, y’all. I regularly sketch.  I mean, sketching is like artist homework.  Sometimes my sketches look really nice and I turn them into something else.  I love that ethereal white on a colored background look.  So I turned these poppies into a finished product.  Like so.   If you want to check out MORE of my art (and if you love what I do and want to buy me a cup of coffee) check out my PATREON for more goodies.   Without further ado– here are your freebies for this week.       Get your FREEBIES HERE.   If youRead More →

Hey guys! So, I have a lot of art and really nothing much to do with it (artist problems). I’ve decided to give it away. What I’m going to do is have one monthly giveaway for one piece of original art. It’s not a print, it’s something that I actually did with my two hands on art paper. The piece of art may be abstract, representational, a lettering piece, a drawing. Who knows! That’s the fun part, right? How do you enter? Simple. What you have to do is: Share this post on facebook or pinterest Join my email list to be notified of futureRead More →

It’s finally Friday!!!  And it’s almost the end of July, which, really has nothing to do with anything besides the fact that school is starting up again, cool weather is on it’s way, and I’ve been lettering professionally for almost a year! So, I have something a little different for you guys this week.  Some of you may not know this, but I used to sell on Etsy.  I sold hand lettered home decor prints.  I actually really enjoyed it until Etsy became nearly impossible to use as a reliable source of income and I had to leave. For this week, I looked in theRead More →
